Small World by Larry Wile Date Added: Tuesday 13 July, 2010
Small World Small World, put out by Days of Wonder Games, is a fun game for 2 to 5 players that takes about 2 hours to play for beginners. It won the 2010 Games Magazine Game of the Year award, and it really does deserve it.

In Small World, you play the leader of a civilization (some of my friends insist they are the patron deities of the civilization) and your job is to conquer territory. More territory equals more gold and the player with the most gold wins. However, civilizations can only go so far, conquer only so much territory before they become overextended and their territories are ripe for plundering from other players. When that happens, you can abandon your current civilization and choose a new one and begin the process all over again. Your old civilization remains in place, a shadow of its former glory, waiting to be conquered by your new civilization or another player's conquering horde.

Each civilization is a unique combination of a race and an adjective. For example, you can p..

Settlers of Catan by Joseph Hines Date Added: Friday 09 July, 2010
Settlers of Catan A classic, simple game to learn but different every time you play. An excellent entry into Euro gaming and easy to find people who have already played!

Mad Scientist University by Joseph Hines Date Added: Friday 11 June, 2010
Mad Scientist University This game has a play style very similar to Apples to Apples, but with Mad Scientist Storytelling thrown in. Make sure you bring your imagination and be prepared to expect the most devilish of plans from your friends. Your face will hurt from laughing during this game!

Zombie Dice by Joseph Hines Date Added: Friday 11 June, 2010
Zombie Dice Brains!!! Simple game with simple mechanics. Very easy to learn, fun to play and very replayable. This also makes for a great travel game as it is compact. I will likely start taking this to every game day just to fill in the gaps between other games!

Formula D by Joseph Hines Date Added: Friday 11 June, 2010
Formula D I love the mechanics of this game. The primary decision is what gear to be in and the gear you are in decides which die you roll. When you get into a long straight away it starts to really feel like a formula race as some cars zoom really far ahead! One of my new personal favorites

Arkham Horror by Joseph Hines Date Added: Monday 31 May, 2010
Arkham Horror I personally love this game. Yes, the rules are very complex and it takes a little while to get back into the swing of it after a hiatus. But to its credit it is a cooperative board game and one that it is very possible to lose. There is also a very real sense of horror while playing the game, even for someone who doesn't really know the Cthulhu mythos.
